Reverse Masking

Here is a really cool technique that I have been using lately on cards and scrap book pages. It works particularly well with the stamp-set called “Label Classics” as you need a frame of some sort to create this effect.

I stamped the oval scalloped frame onto some scrap paper (don’t use card stock as it is too thick). Then I cut out the middle of the frame just inside the solid line boarder (the rotary blade on Cutter Kit makes it easy to do this in one piece).

I stamped the frame again, this time on a piece of Whisper White card stock in Chocolate Chip ink. Then I placed the hollowed out frame over the top, lining it up exactly with the image underneath (the Two-Way glue pen can be used here. Left to dry, it becomes tacky, like a Post-it-Note.) The pattern in the middle is stamped with the gorgeous “Paisley” Background stamp. Here’s how it works:

Because my “mask” frame is covering the same image stamped on the card stock, the Paisley pattern only appears in the middle of the frame and nowhere else when I stamp over the top! Cool hey?
I have used Cool Carribean Classic ink for the Paisley design and Chocolate Chip for the word Cherish (taken from the “Warm Words” stamp-set.)

Card stock colours are Certainly Celery, Cool Carribean and ribbon is Chocolate grossgrain.

I guess I have been reminded lately about the things I need to Cherish, hold dear and preserve as sacred in my life…….so that was the inspiration behind this card. It would make a beautiful wedding, anniversary card or friendship card or you could change the greeting to suit whatever the occasion.

If you have any questions about this technique or wish to purchase any of the supplies mentioned above please contact me at sandvwebb@bigpond.com.

Stamp-A-Stack

December Stamp-a-Stacks

Here are the cards you will be creating at my December Stamp-a-Stacks. The snowflake card is cased from Stamping and Papercraft Vol13, No1. If you can’t make it to one of these nights, then here are the details of the cards pictured above:

I have used the criss-cross background stamp from “Looks Like Spring” and “The Snowflake Spot”- I don’t know about you, but I still love the whole idea of a white Christmas even though we don’t have a snowflake in sight during our December!

I stamped the giant snowflake onto some ultra smooth Whisper White cardstock in Boardering Blue ink before adding some Dazzling Diamonds glitter with my 2-way glue pen to add a bit of “bling” to my snowflake. Then I placed a Mini glue-dot onto the silver brad in the centre before dipping into some more glitter. Other Cardstock used is Real Red, Boardering Blue, Always Artichoke. I substituted these for the In Colour cardstock used in the original and I think they work just as well. A bit of distressing (I used my Cutter Kit for this), Paper Piercing and Stampin’ Up! Silver Cord (you get just under 70m on the roll for 11.50!) finishes it off.

For the card behind I have used the True Thyme Double -Sided Designer Series Paper (which i have been having a lot of fun with!) The technique I’ve used to get the ribbon effect is to place little folds all the way along a 12 inch strip of the paper and a strip of Snail adhesive to keep it in place. I find it works best if you fold and measure first before sticking it down in place. The stamp-set I’ve used for the greeting is “Glad Tidings” which has been inked up using the Rich Regals markers. The “Speckled” jumbo wheel gives a bit of texture to the background strip of Bravo Burgandy card-stock. Other card-stock used:Very Vanilla, Brocade Blue, Always Artichoke.

Mini Catalogue Run Out Sale!

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

November is the last month you can order from the Spring Mini catalogue and to mark the end of the catalogue period I am offering a 10% discount on all mini-catalogue merchandise. Just call or email me and mention my website to get your discount.

One of my favourite sets in this last mini has been Office Accoutrements.

I actually borrowed it from a fellow demonstrator for a while and haven’t been able to give it back yet! I especially love the big frangipani flower as you can do so much with it such as kissing, markering and another cool technique called rock-n-roll. If you haven’t seen me demo any of these techniques then book yourself a workshop so you and your friends can learn how to use them on your cards and scrapbook pages.

The tin below is covered with Notations double sided paper and wrapped around with twill-tape (which is a lovely vanilla colour and coordinates beautifully with the designer paper).

The tags are cased from a design by the lovely Melanie Packham (look out for her website on my blogroll soon!) and I have used a combination of Cool Carribbean, Tempting Turquoise and Chocolate Chip Classic Stamp Pad inks for the stamped bits. The Round Tab Punch and Spiral punches for accents, Vintage brads and Copper eyelets.

There is no guarantee that any of these stamp sets and accessories will ever be seen again, so call or email me to place your order before November 26th before this catalogue runs out!
