Faux Shaving Cream

Here is another cool technique I wanted to share with you. This technique looks like you have used shaving cream and re-inker, yet it achieves the same look without the mess (always the better option in my book!).

To create the box I used one of the box templates from my Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator website. I stamped the smaller flower from the Office Accoutrement stamp set randomly over the box in versa mark, put the box together with Snail Adhesive and wrapped some vellum card stock around the box after dry embossing it with my crop-a-dile to create the raised dots.

To create the big flower in the Faux Shaving Cream effect : Stamp your stamp into a pale ink colour first, then ink up a Stampin’ Around wheel in a darker contrasting colour (this works best with bold images) then squiggle your wheel across the large stamp so it leaves some of it’s ink behind. With a bit of practice you will get you desired look………and the beauty of it is that it will look different every time you stamp!

Here’s a rundown on what I have used, you can purchase any or all of these products directly from me:

Stamps: Office Accoutrement Stamp Set

Ink : Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Purely Pomegranate

Paper: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Vellum Cardstock, Whisper White

Accessories : Round Tab Punch, Paper Snips, Crop-a-dile, Pewter Jumbo Eyelet, Hemp Twine, Snail Adhesive

Here is a card that I created using the same technique, this time using Apricot Appeal and Cameo Coral on the flower:

Faux Metal

This card was inspired by fellow demonstrator Jayne. I just love her work…..check out her website and add it to your favourites. Here is my “card” version of those gorgeous Faux Metal ATC’s. I’ve used different colours and a different stampset……..yes it’s Baroque Motifs again…….but doesn’t it suit this technique?

To create the metal embellishment, you need to apply Versa Mark directly onto your card stock (I’ve used Stampin’ Up!’s Ivory Naturals card stock because it has a bit more weight to it which is good for this technique). Once the Versa Mark is on there just pour the Silver Embossing powder straight on and apply your Heat Tool until it melts. Repeat this process of layering Versa Mark and embossing powder and melting another 4 times and when all 5 layers are “sizzling”, stamp your Versa Mark-coated stamp straight into the molten powder.

Here is a close up of the Faux Metal embellishment:

If you and your friends would like to learn this or any other techniques, just contact me to book a demonstration of how to use Stampin’ Up! products to get these amazing effects.

Ok……it’s been rather quiet in here lately so I think it is time for some more candy for all my blog readers………

Leave a comment for this post before the end of the week and I will send you a sample of a card using this cool technique. (Australian residents and non-demonstrators only………but feel free to post a comment and a link to your blog anyway!)

There are only a couple of weeks left of this month, which means that Stampin’ Up!’s Palette O’ Prints Promotion is soon coming to an end. For just $12.95 you get 48 double-sided 6×6 sheets of paper in 4 different colours (two of which are not available in the current catalogue). These are great for card making, covering chip board, using with punches and stamping onto.

Here are some quick cards that I created using my double-sided paper pad and a Level 1 hostess set that I got free from Stampin’ Up! Yes, demonstrators earn hostess freebies too! I have used this set with our water colour paper and stamped in Stazon before colouring with my ink pads and a blender pen.

If you haven’t already, make sure you place an order of at least $35 to get your Palette O’ Prints before the end of this month. I am collecting a local group order *(Wollongong residents only) together to save on shipping. So if you need some cardstock, snail or a copy of the new Catalogue to make up your $35 you will pay just 5% shipping.

Email me with your order (see link to right) before Monday 26th May – don’t miss out!

The classes are free, at my home and you need to spend a minimum of $50 per month for 6 months to be in the club and share in the hostess benefits with the other club members.

Contact me ASAP for more details and I will send you an application form (let me know if you need an extra one for a friend!)

The first club class will be embellished tins.
