Water Colour Swaps

Now that they’ve gone postal, I thought I would share with you my samples for our team swap last month. The theme was water colouring and we were able to use any colour scheme or stamp set we chose.

I thought I would choose some colours that I don’t normally work with to give myself a bit of a challenge.

I wanted to keep the colour scheme pretty simple so I opted for So Saffron , Pumpkin Pie and Groovy Guava as the three main colours with accents of Very Vanilla (the grosgrain ribbon) and black brads.

Stamps: Paisley Background, Oh So Lovely Hostess Set (I just love the stamp with the poppies) and an old favourite : Warm Words which suits the line art stamped images very well I think

Ink: Groovy Guava, Stazon Jet Black for stamping and Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, Yo Yo Yellow for the water colouring.

Paper: So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Stampin’ Up!’s Water Colour Paper. I just squeezed my ink pads to get a pool of colour in the lid and picked up the ink with my Aqua Painter.

Accessories: Very Vanilla 1.6cm Grosgrain Ribbon, Vintage brads, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Piercing Tool, Foam Mat, 3.5cm Square Punch.

I can’t wait to see what gorgeous creations I get in return………I’ll be stalking that postie tomorrow!!

A Sketch Challenge

I’m really enjoying my on line class with Got Sketch……..I am a bit behind, though, as we’ve all had the bug this week. Thank you to all of you who sent emails and personal get well messages when this was my only link to the outside world ( I’m recovering from Laryngitis and I couldn’t utter a word for most of this week!)

The page above was one of the pre-class challenges. I love working from sketches as a starting point……they kind of give you a frame work to hang your ideas on.

For my “Phoebe” page I’ve used:

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Frames With a Flourish, Life Definitions, Defining Alphabet

Ink: Chocolate chip, Always Artichoke Classic Stamp Pads

Paper: Brocade Background, Always Artichoke (12×12), Mellow Moss, River Rock cardstock.

I hope you like this one……let me know what you think.

Stampin’ Around Wheels have to be the quickest and easiest way to stamp a border or a background. It is really fun to make your own wrapping paper using a wheel too! You just need a cartridge to go inside your handle for the wheel so you can stamp continuously without re-inking.

Here are some sample of how I have used a sheet of A4 Very Vanilla card stock to create cute set for a birthday present or thank you gift. I thought I would make some Rum Balls to go inside the tin and give it to a friend who has a special birthday coming up.

Here are the ingredients to re create this project. You can order these products through me (delivered to anywhere in Australia) and use any type of tin that you may have at home:

Stamps : So Swirly Jumbo Wheel, Frames With a Flourish, Sweet Sampler stamp sets

Ink : Ballet Blue Classic Stampin’ Pad, Ballet Blue Jumbo Cartridge.

Paper : Very Vanilla, Ballet Blue

Accessories : Sticky strip, Snail Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Brocade Blue Wide Grosgrain Ribbon, Prep School Ribbon remnants (retired), Pewter Jumbo Eyelets, Crop-a-Dile, Small Oval Punch, Stampin’ Around Wheel Guide.

Circle of Friendship

I have really appreciated the versatility of this set. The eScape Bundle is a bargain and a great combination of products that can be used in a variety of ways. Teamed with the other circle punches that Stampin’ Up! offers, there is a miriad of things you can create with this one stamp set.

I got my inspiration for the basic design of this card from a fellow demonstrator Marelle.

Marelle’s work is just awesome.…….her blog is worth visiting regularly so make sure you add her to your favourites :) .

I have stamped the image from Circle of Friendship using my brand new Basic Grey stamp pad (I’m loving this colour!) onto some Soft Sky card stock before punching it out with the 1 and 1/4 inch Circle punch that comes in the bundle. Then I used the bigger 1 and 3/8 inch Circle Punch to create a slightly bigger circle to frame the smaller one. I punched through the two layers with my Cropadile and set in a pewter Jumbo Eyelet.

The little Sunny Boy or Sour Cream container was made using 1/4 of an A4 sheet of whisper white cardstock decorated with the Basics Outline Wheel and Bud Basics stamp set.

These are so easy to make see here for Beate Johns’ tutorial that you can adapt for your own use.

The card stock and ink colours and coordinating ribbon used in these projects are Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky.

Let me know what you think!

My stamp clubs began last week and our first project was embellishing tins. Believe it or not, I still had some old formula tins left over in the shed from when my first munchkin was born………they have come in very useful over the years!

After we covered our tins we embellished them with ribbons, stamping, papers, wire and jumbo eyelets. The tin above was embellished with the Bronc Buster and Wanted stamp sets. I experimented with the faux leather look and created a look-alike jeans label with the genuine stamp by water colouring it and sponging around the edges in Creamy Caramel ink with a sponge dauber. To create the look of stitching, I used the paper-piercer from my Tool Kit and joined up the holes with a Chocolate Chip marker.

Then I decided it was about time put the Cropadile to the test and see if it lived up to it’s reputation!

You can see the results below:

This amazing tool made light work of punching holes through the tins and setting eyelets too. A little tip I would share with you is that, because tin is not as forgiving as card stock, we ended up punching two holes over-lapping into each side which left enough room to push the metal eyelet through easily.

Here are some of the tins that my very talented Club members decorated:

Congratulations Pam, Lyndall and Deborah on your gorgeous creations-I hope you enjoy using your tins!
