Holidays and Birthday Parties

DSC03695_sml.jpg

Just sharing a card I made for DD1’s 10th Birthday. Her birthday is always in the  holidays……so it invariably ends up being a whole week of celebrations. This time around, she scored 4 birthday cakes…..so she did very well for herself!!

Some friends from school came over and we did some papercraft and played Singstar (I sang along in the background lol)

Here’s what I used to make the cupcake card which I CASE’d from one of our Demonstrator publications -
Stamps :Cupcakes standard Stampin’ Around Wheel, Polka Dot background stamp, Occasional Greetings stampset

Ink : Basic Black standard cartridge, Basic Black Classic inkpad, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Ridinghood Red Classic Inkpad, Rose Red and More Mustard Stampin’ Write Markers

HINT – Using the Wheelguide I rolled the image out on pre-cut Glossy White cardstock (it does dry, just leave it a couple of minutes!!) then I used my Sponge Daubers to pick up ink from the inkpads and just sponged on the colour to give the images an air-brushed look – great for those of us who can’t colour inside the lines lol.

Paper : So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Rose Red, Glossy White  cardstock

Accessories :  Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, Stampin’ Around Wheel Guide (a must when your using wheels and want your image to be straight and clearly stamped every time), Sponge Daubers, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Anywhere Gluesticks.
We actually had a few other birthdays to celebrate this month……so one week of the holidays, the kids and I made some birthday cards to store away and use when needed.

Here’s the result of our afternoon of stamping:

Making all your cards for the month in one go makes it easy when it comes to party preparation!

My daughter convinced me that I needed to add this stampset to my collection. It’s called Just Jawing…….not really my style (not sure if I even have “a style”!!) but lots of fun to play with all the same.

I was putting in some orders a couple of weeks ago and decided to get the Gratuitous Graffiti background stamp with my hostess benefits……..this is a really cool background stamp and I’m looking forward to playing with it a bit more :)
Here’s a rundown of  what the kids used to create their friend’s birthday cards -
Stamps : Just Jawing, Gratuitous Graffiti stampsets (hat on the skull card hand drawn by artist – I. Webb ;)

Ink : Basic Black Classic stamp pad, Pixi Pink, Pink Passion, Brilliant Blue Stampin’ Write Markers

Paper : Pacific Point, Pink Passion, Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories : Chunky Sprinkles, Fine Supernova glitter (HINT : You can mix these two types together for a really cool effect), Tombow Adhesive, Crimper, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a roll………

While I’m on the subject I thought I would share the cards I made last week for our monthly team swap. The Inky Fingers local to Wollongong get together once a month to stamp and chat and each month we create around approx. 10 cards to swap with other team members. It’s heaps of fun seeing what everyone creates. Usually we base it around a theme…… and this month…..as you may have already guessed …..it was Christmas!

Our brand new Mini Catalogue isn’t out ’til next week but I thought I would use one of the sets that I pre-ordered from Stampin’ Up! for my swaps this time around. There’s nothing like a new stamp set to get the creative juices flowing!

I love embossing so I get really excited when it comes time to make Christmas cards because it’s a great excuse to get out the Heat Tool and the Gold and Silver embossing powders.

I actually stamped and then silver embossed the ornaments from this lovely set called Tree Trimmings onto some of the new Ski Slope Christmas papers. You can see a strip of the stripy pattern across the top of the cards above.

Here’s a close up of the embossed ornaments : DSC03661_sml.jpg

As with all Stampin’ Up! stamps, the detail in these is just amazing and , once again, all the new sets are Diecut – YAY!

Here’s the list of ingredients for you -

Stamps:  Tree Trimmings stampset (from the new Spring Mini out in August!), Occasional Greetings stampset.

Ink : Versamark, Ridinghood Red Classic Ink

Paper : Chocolate Chip, Ridinghood Red, Baja Breeze, Whisper White cardstock, Ski Slope Designer Series Paper (also from the new Spring Mini)

Accessories : Silver Embossing Powder, Silver Brads, Paper Snips, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Paper Cutter with Scoring Attachment, Snail Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Fifth Avenue Floral

I love holidays!!! I’ve had a bit more time for stamping lately as the usual weekly activities have stopped for a while . So we have enjoyed a few PJ days especially as the weather has been cold a wet here in Wollongong. I have been playing  a bit with my new mini catalogue goodies (I will post some of my creations with these very soon!)
This card was inspired by a card made by the very talented Linda Higgins.

I love this set because no matter which way you stamp it……it looks so elegant. I could have masked the flowers but I love the simplicity of being able to stamp them on top of each other……..a very quick and easy card!

The best thing about this set is that there are number of coordinating products that go with it……I’ve used the Urban Oasis Papers here on the bottom of the card. Watch out for some gorgeous new co-ordinating Rub-ons in the new Spring Mini Catalogue (coming soon!).

If you want to make some cards like this for your stash at home, here’s what you’ll need (all available from Stampin’ Up! through me):

Stamps : Fifth Avenue Floral, Occasional Greetings stamp sets
Ink : Basic Grey, Kiwi Kiss, Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze

Paper : Sahara Sand, Basic Grey, Very Vanilla Textured, Kiwi Kiss cardstock. Urban Oasis double- sided paper .

Accessories : Photo Corner Punch, Silver Brads, Crafter’s Tool Kit, Kiwi Kiss Double-sided Satin Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you are finding some time to create!

Kissed By a Stamp!

I’ve bee having a lot of fun with this set! Here’s another card using Petal Pizzazz where I’ve also used a technique called “kissing”. The big bold flower images in this set are perfect for this technique. I’ve inked up the big flower in So Saffron before stamping with the smaller flower in Lovely Lilac and Perfect Plum ink to create the pattern on the petals then stamping onto Whisper White cardstock. Cool hey?

There are so many techniques you can use with this set, I think it’s one of the most versatile stampsets in our current catalogue!

Here’s what I used to create the card above:

Stamps : Petal Pizzazz, Best Yet (free Level 1 hostess set)

Ink : Whisper White Kraft Ink, So Saffron, Lovely Lilac, Perfect Plum Classic Ink Pads

Cardstock/ Paper : So Saffron, Lovely Lilac, Elegant Eggplant Cardstock, Urban Oasis Double-Sided paper

Accessories : Paper Snips, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Small Oval, Large Oval, 1″,1 and 1/4″,1 and 3/8″, 3/4″ Circle and Small and Large Oval Punches, Sanding Block, Tool Kit , Silver Brad, Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon.

I had so much fun making these that I made another card of the same design, using different colours:DSC03609_sml.jpg

DSC03611_sml.jpg

With this one I’ve used the gorgeous Washington Apple Papers which are the same one’s we will be using in the Petal Pizzazz Classes this month. If you haven’t already booked in, it’s not too late to plan to come along and learn some different ways to use this fabulous set! Just click on this link for further details.
