Faux Tiling

DSC03743_sml.jpg

This technique is lots of fun…..and I love the real “WOW” you get when that clear embossing powder melts over the stamped image:)

This was one of the techniques we learned at Stamp Club a couple of months back. I will be starting up new Stamp Clubs in 2010…….so watch this space for more information about these and how you can join one!
To get the Faux Tiling look you start off with scoring your cardstock in a tile pattern. I’ve use the scoring attachment on my Fiskars Paper Cutter (the easiest way I know to score cardstock evenly) in diagonal lines about 1 and 1/2 cms  apart.

Next you stamp a design onto the scored cardstock. You’ll notice the gaps appearing in the stamped images where the score lines are……..this adds to the Faux Tiling effect.

Cover the entire surface with Versa Mark using the inkpad upside down and applying it like a sponge.
Shake a generous layer of Clear Embossing powder over the image…..making sure to cover the entire surface.

Melt the powder using your Stampin’ Up! Heat Tool and your done!

Here’s a closer look at the embossed image :

Here’s a list of what we used to make this card:

Stamps : Friends 24/7, Weathered Background Stamp

Ink : Creamy Caramel, Baja Breeze, Choclate Chip Classic Ink Pads

Cardstock : Creamy Caramel, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla

Accessories : Paper Cutter with Scoring Attachment, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon, Snail Adhesive,  Stampin’ Dimensionals

If you have any questions at all about this project please email me!

If you are interested in joining one of next years Stamp  Clubs please email me on stampin@vanessawebb.net and I’ll put your name on the waiting list.

All Wrapped Up

Monday, September 21st, 2009

DSC04287_sml.jpgNow here’s a simple gift wrapping idea that you can also get your kids involved in! I LOVE the new White Stazon in the current Mini Catalogue. It looks fabulous stamped onto Stampin’ Up’s cellophane bags (I’ve used the medium sized ones here – the large ones are suitable for displaying and selling your hand-stamped greeting cards, they also come in small). Use nice large, bold images when getting kids to stamp cellophane bags…..these would be a great way to wrap teacher’s gifts, party lolly bags, birthday presents etc.
I was also playing with the new ribbon bundle available this month only FOR FREE with any qualifying order, the Certainly Celery Poly Twill, in particular, is great to stamp on, you can also apply rub-ons to it quite sucessfully as it is smoother than the grossgrain ribbon.

Here’s what we’ve used to create our gift-bags :

Stamps : Enjoy Every Moment

Ink : White Stazon, Certainly Celery, Lovely Lilac

Paper : Whisper White

Accessories : Paper Snips, 3/4 ” Circle,  Hemp Twine, Certainly Celery poly twill ribbon , 2mm Circle Punch.

Pink Flamingo

Until I actually got this paper, I didn’t really think I would love it so much……..

I’m loving Pink Flamingo and I’ve been using it recently as inspiration for some projects, like these tags.

DSC03842_sml.jpg

DSC03833_sml.jpgEven though the background of these Designer Papers is white, I’ve used the gorgeous new Riding Hood Red Striped Grossgrain which is Very Vanilla and Riding Hood Red. Making a hole with the slot punch, I’ve held the ribbon in place with a Square Fire Rhinestone Brad, splitting the pins and wrapping them around the back of the ribbon.

Here’s what I’ve used to make my tags. You can purchase all these ingredients from Stampin’ Up! through me:

Stamps : All Scallops

Ink : Riding Hood Red

Paper : Pink Flamingo Double -Sided, Designer Series Paper

Accessories : Slot Punch, Riding Hood Red Striped Grossgrain, Snail Adhesive, Square Fire Rhinestone Brads, Corner Rounder Punch
