Pocket Silhouettes

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I have been making some cards using this gorgeous little set and I thought I would share them with you all! These cards were inspired by a lovely card given to me by Emma Parkin-Wilson (Stampin’ Up!New Zealand’s Regional Business Development Manager and an all-round gorgeous girl ;) ).DSC04360_sml.JPG

Such a simple but effective design, combining Designer Series Papers, Punches, Metal Edged Tags and some ribbon. These cards were really quick to put together and I was really happy with the result.

On Emma’s card, she had removed the Rhinestone from the brad and adhered it to the punched circle in the Metal-Edged tag, I really liked this effect, so I used it on my cards too:DSC04356_sml.JPG

Here’s what I used to make my cards:

Accessories : Round Metal-edged tags, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Clear Rhinestone Brads, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red and Baja Breeze Double-stitched Grosgrain ribbon, Linen Thread, Snail Adhesive, Dimensionals.

Have you received a card lately that has inspired you? Leave a comment and share with us all here….you can post a link to your card too if you wish :)

Bleaching

DSC00050_sml.jpg

I thought I would share with you another one of our Stamp Club projects.

For these cards we used Bleach to create our stamped images.

The two cards behind are CASE’d. The Sense of Time Card from Stacey Randolph here and the Pocket Silhouettes card from  from the current Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and catalogue p6.

We had a lot of fun experimenting with this technique and, as a result, our bottles of common household bleach took on a whole new meaning and purpose!
If YOU have a long stamping wishlist, want to earn some hostess benefits without necessarily hosting a workshop at your place and learn about the latest stamping and papercraft techniques – then Stamp Club is perfect for you!

Club classes are FREE and held once a month over 6 months, at my home in Wollongong.

You’ll spend a minimum of $50 on Stampin’ Up! products per month to be part of the club, and (here’s the best bit!) enjoy receiving the hostess benefits once during that time too!
Each month we focus on a different project or technique and create projects that I wouldn’t normally have the time to show at a workshop, so, you are able to purchase your products gradually and learn how to get the most out of them also.

Stamp Clubs will start up again in January 2010 and spots tend to fill up quickly so, if you are interested in joining one, then please contact me by email stampin@vanessawebb.net or ph 4271 8212 for more information on times and availablilty and to request an application form!

Playing catch-up!

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

It’s been a busy couple of weeks! As a result, I have not really had the time to sit and blog…..but I have been stamping!!!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of stamping and chatting with those who came to visit our Stampin’ Up! stand at the Sydney Paper Arts Festival.  Three days of sharing what I love to do with others, lots of laughs and more than a few espressos ;) …… what a great way to spend a long weekend!! It was lovely to catch up with my fellow demostrators too (I can’t really call it work when I get to hang out with some of my favourite people can I?) Thanks to all those who came and said “Hi” or introduced yourselves to us and I look forward to stamping with you again soon ;) !

Here’s a picture of some of the cards I demonstrated at the show, using the watercolouring technique with a blender pen and a Classic Stampin’ pad:

I’ve used the line-art image of the Dogwood flowers from Soft Summer (available in the Spring Mini Catalogue until the end of November). For the top card I squeezed my Pale Plum and Mellow Moss Classic ink pads and picked up the ink from the inside of the lid with a Blender Pen (you get three of these pens in a pack for $18.95- and they are double -ended!)

The one below is my little protest! In the catalogue the Wattle is coloured pink, which is obviously not botanically correct! So I used the two-step stamping technique with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the solid image inside the outline and stamped the flower in Basic Brown and Summer Sun (a perfect Wattle yellow!). I then picked up some ink from the lid of a More Mustard inkpad with my Blender Pen and shaded in some of the wattle just to give it more depth of colour. Water-colouring with stamps is soooooo easy……the images really do all the hard work for you :) . If you have any questions about how I made these cards…..please ask! Or feel free to leave a comment :)
The lovely Lin Mei, Linda and Annette on the last day of the show…….

The other “Big Gig” in my calendar this week was the Girls Night In on Wednesday!

I wish to say big THANK YOU to all who attended the night and helped out with drinks and nibbles and the papercrafting too! We had a ball and raised over $660 for the Cancer Council Girls Night In!!!!!
Here’s just one of the projects we created on the night in-between eating and chatting and winning heaps of prizes, all generously donated by Stampin’ Up!:

Pink decorations were contributed and arranged by my Co-Demonstrator for the evening Isobel Webb ;) who did a great job creating  the perfect atmosphere for us :
