Parisian Breeze Shabby Chic

DSC04407_sml.JPG

If you haven’t purchased a pack of these gorgeous specialty papers yet…..then make sure you order some from me before the mini catalogue runs out on November 30th!!!!

Parisian Breeze papers are card-stock weight papers with a beautiful textured surface….perfectly suited to the Shabby Chic style. The papers are double-sided with the option of using the stripes for a masculine card or the beautiful Toile pattern for a more feminine look.

I used the papers as a basis for my design and colour choice, but, with this card, it’s all about the accessories and techniques!
Here’s a list of what I’ve used to create my card, all items available from Stampin’ Up! through me:

Stamps : Weathered Background, Frames with a Flourish (set of 7), Life Definitions (set of 28)

Ink : Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze  Classic Inkpads, Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write marker

Accessories :  Corner Rounder punch, Eyelet Border Punch, Paper Piercer and template from the Crafter’s toolkit, 1/2 inch circle punch, Build-a-Brad, Flower Fusion Too, Colour Spritzer Tool, Chocolate 5/8″ Grosgrain, Jumbo Brads (Spring Mini catalogue, available in Chocolate Chip/Whisper White/Very Vanilla/ Silver), Sponge Daubers, Sanding Blocks, Paper Snips.

Hints :

* When inking up a stamp in two colours using an In-Colour, ink up entire stamp in lighter colour eg Baja Breeze and isolate one part with a darker coloured marker eg. Chocolate Chip
* Use Stampin Up’s sandig blocks to distress cardstock edges and coloured brads to give them an “old” look

* Get more out of your Stampin Up! punches by using them in different ways.

What do you think of my card?

If you have any questions about the techniques and products that I have used please leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you :)

Owl Together Now

DSC04405_sml.JPG

I’m stamping some cards for my lovely hostesses and also for some of the wonderful girls in my Stampin’ Up! team today, but I had to come and share some of my recent creations with you using this gorgeous stampset.

The one above uses a brayered background and it was one of our Stamp Club projects this month. If you have been thinking about joining one of my clubs next year, contact me now to request more details and an application form…….I have 4 spaces remaining for Monday’s club and only 1 spot left for Thursdays.
If you’d like to learn how to do brayered backgrounds like these, book a workshop at your place and I’ll come and show you and your friends how to recreate the card above!

After creating the background, I stamped the owls over the top in Basic Black ink before watercolouring them with Stampin’ Pastels and a Blender Pen.

You can’t see it very well in the picture but, I used a 2-way Gluepen around the eyes of the owls and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the top to help them stand out a bit more against the night-sky.

The highlights are done with a Signo White Gel Pen, which you can purchase through me from Stampin’ Up!. If you have been disappointed with the performance of other gel pens I think you’ll agree, after using this one, that it is the BEST White Gel Pen on the market.
The second card…….

DSC04404_sml.JPG

The layout for this card was inspired by my Facebook friend Erika Martin who is a very talented demonstrator from the US.

I punched out the windows for the Owls with my 1 and 3/8″ Circle Punch and framed them with the Scallop Circle.

The Owls are coloured with ink picked up from the lids of classic inkpads, using a blender pen….that way I get to use the In Colours such as Kiwi Kiss to colour my images ;)

Here’s a list of the ingredients used to make the cards above. If you have any questions or comments please leave a message for this post, I’d love to hear from you.

Stamps : Owl Together Now

Ink : Bordering Blue, Rose Red, Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip,  Basic Brown, So Saffron Classic ink pads

Paper : Whisper White, Bordering Blue, Rose Red, Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Good Morning Sunshine Designer Series paper

Accessories : Brayer, 1 and 3/8 Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 2-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Pigtails Ribbon Originals, Jumbo Brads (currently available in the Spring Mini catalogue), Snail Adhesive.
Ok……back to making some more cards!!! Have a great day :)

My contact details are on there, and I offer a free Christmas gift-wrapping service on request for orders of $100 or more placed before the 15th of December.

Here are some of the things I’ve been making with the goodies on the list above……….DSC04414_sml.JPG This is a 7’s box. You can find the tutorial to make this box on Marelle Taylor’s website here.

I’ve used the Scallop Square Punch (which you can earn this month for free!) and the hostess set called Punches Three on my box. You can earn this set for free too by hosting your own in-home workshop or by spending $300 or more on Stampin’ up! goodies :) . To get the two-toned image, I stamped the Merry Christmas stamp twice, once on Very Vanilla and once on Kraft cardstock. I punched out the Scallop Square image and cut around the greeting on the Kraft before mounting it on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also punched out a Scallop Square “window” before I stuck the box together.
The ribbon is Riding Hood Red striped grosgrain, available only for a couple more weeks in the Spring Mini Catalogue.

You can’t see it very well in the picture, but I’ve stamped the snowflake image from Winter Post in White Stazon as a background on the box…….which gives a really subtle effect.

Here’s another great idea using the I Wish Simply Scrappin’ Kit. These kits really simplify your scrapbooking so that you can literally do a page in minutes!
DSC04394_sml.JPG
The kits come with diecut stickers, cardstock and exclusive double-sided papers. You can add embellishments such as chipboard and ribbon…..but the basics are all there to put your pages together.

You can also make a large pile of Christmas cards with these kits:

DSC04395_sml.JPGFor most of the cards above, I’ve just used what comes in the kit (you can even make your own ribbon by cutting thin strips of cardstock and distresing it before tying it in a bow or knot)

Here’s a close up of one of the cards I made with the kit, just adding some Double Stitched Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon to finish.

I’ll be back soon with information about this month’s Christmas card Stamp-A-Stacks!
