Simply Sketched

simplysketched
I demonstrated at a lovely workshop on Saturday……and this was the card that we made! The hostess  (*waving “Hi” Carole*) requested that we use this stampset: Simply Sketched  (which is one of the sets that hostesses can choose to get with their free shopping $$$$).
Here is the whole set (you’ll find all the hostess rewards sets on my online ordering page HERE):

This set is perfect for water-colouring so we coloured it using Blender Pens and Ink from the Strawberry Slush and Pink Pirouette Classic inkpads – love how the stamps themselves do all the hard work for us! We cut our Circles using the NEW Circles Framelits. Did you know that you get 10 different sized Circles in ths pack of Framelits for just $45.95 and  they layer well with the Circle Punches too!
Using the Framelits means that you can cut out a circle from anywhere (even where a standard punch won’t reach!) which is how we created the “spotlight”. It was really simple to line up the second smallest circle right where we wanted it and also to keep it in place using the new Magnetic Platform (now available!).
Finally we finished off the card with some Strawberry Slush Ruffled Stretch Trim and a Vintage Designer Button with some thread.
I was pretty happy with the way this card turned out……..what do you think?
Here is a list of what we  used to create our cards :
Stamps – Simply Sketched Hostess stampset, Dictionary Background
Ink – Strawberry Slush, Stazon Jet Black, Pink Pirouette
Paper – Strawberry Slush, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla and Basic Black Cardstock
Accessories – Big Shot, Magnetic Platform, Circles Framelits Dies, Blender Pens, Strawberry Slush Ruffled Stretch Trim, Very Vintage Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Glue Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Don’t forget you can now browse and  shop anywhere anytime online 24/7/365. All the stamps, tools and accessories are  available in my online Stampin’ Store HERE!
You can create the spotlight effect in all sorts of ways – here I have used the Square Framelits instead of the Circles with the Wildflower Meadow background stamp –

It ‘s a little different to the circles, but the effect is much the same.
Hope you have some fun with this technique and see what you come up with!
