I think this technique is just awesome! I was blog hopping a while ago and found a card by Beate Johns……I just love her work and she writes the best stamping tutorials! If you want to learn a new stamping technique then hop over and pay a visit to her blog. I had heard of the Emerging Colour technique but didn’t really know how it was done until now.
To create the effect you start off with a piece of Whisper White card stock and stamp randomly in a selection of colours before stamping a large, blog image over the top in Versa Mark. Clear emboss the larger image and then Brayer over the top of that with a co ordinating colour. The embossed image resisits the brayered ink and you can wipe off the residue with a tissue before adding in more stamped images over the top if you wish.
The card above was created by my 9YO daughter, she chose the colours and stamped and embossed everything herself (a little supervision was required with the Heat Tool lol.) When she had embossed and brayered she felt it needed something extra, so she added the Whisper White Swirls over the top and swiped her ink pad around the edges (I think she must have seen me do this hundreds of times but I don’t remember sitting down and teaching her how to swipe with an ink pad, but she grabbed the pad in her hand like she knew what she was doing and just swiped away!). The final touch was the silk flower and Rhinestone Brad from the Pretties Kit. The large flower had been coloured using a Sponge Dauber and ink pad. Don’t you just love how this card came together?
I created the card below during my first attempt at this technique at our team get together a couple of months ago. Alison Charlton ,another very talented lady, helped put this one together. This time the swirls are clear embossed too before brayering the Blue Bayou ink over the top. I loved Alison’s idea of placing the white Tafetta Ribbon side by side to get extra width before putting the Kraft ribbon over the top. I’ve added some white half pearls from the Pretties Kit to finish it off.
