As a kid I always loved these dolls…….opening up each one until I got to the smallest was always such a thrill. Now that I have kids of my own and they love these dolls as much as I did. I was inspired to create this card when one of my new Inky Fingers team members (hi Roz!!) sent me a gorgeous card with a Babooshka dolly on it. I worked out that I could make my own Babooshka with the Stampin’ Up! Circles 2 Die in my Big Shot machine. I’ve also used the gorgeous new Sweet Stitches Designer Series Paper and cut the circles in various sizes, cutting the hair and coat free-hand. For the coat trim I punched along some Cherry Cobbler cardstock using my Scallop Trim Border Punch and then cut along the punched edge really close to the pattern. I then adhered it to the edge of the doll’s coat using Anywhere Gluestick and bending it into place as I went to create the right shape, holding it down for a few seconds to secure it. The flower was created with the Boho Blossoms Punch and some scraps of Love Letters and Designer Series Patterns Paper Stack paper with a Designer Button in the middle.
No stamping on this card! I drew the dolls face on with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and coloured in her cheeks with the Blush Blossom Marker (available on p 142 of the Idea Book and Catalogue).
The frame around my dolly is made with the new embossing folder “Framed Tulips” .
Let me know what you think about my no stamping card!
