Last Chance to get your Mixed Bunch

Don’t you just love it when you can use a stamp set in different ways?
I used two ideas that I hadn’t yet tried before when I created this card.
The first is a technique that I have seen on other cards called “Versa Shadow”.
To create the “shadow” around the white swirls I first embossed them in White with the Heat Tool. Then I drew around one side of the swirls using my Versa Marker…..which just leaves a watermark effect on the cardstock and creates the “shadow”.
The butterfly is actually a flower from the soon to be going “Mixed Bunch” stampset.  I embossed the flower in Black before punching it out with the Blossom Punch. I then shaded the flower with Real Red and Basic Black ink using a sponge dauber to add the colour.
To create the butterfly shape I simply cut out two of the petals from the flower. I got this idea from a beautiful swap card I received from fellow demonstrator Michelle Zahara at our Stampin’ Up! convention last month.
Here is a closer look at my butterfly :

To finish off the card, I just added some Adhesive Rhinestones for  bling and some Basic Grey Striped grossgrain ribbon which I frayed and then tied the frayed pieces around the top (remember my faux ostrich feather’s from this post?)
Here’s a close-up:

The greeting is from another set……one of my favourite quotes from one of  my favourite authors, CS Lewis : “We meet no ordinary people in our lives.”
Here’s a list of what I have used to create my card (all available from Stampin’ Up! through me!)
